We have already seen cases of surgeons 3D printing joints with titanium and plastics, but what about printing our degradable cartilage and joints on a 3D printer, infusing them with a patient's own cells and then implanting them? Researchers have come up with a way to do just that. The 3D printed part will eventually degrade within the body, leaving just the patient's own cells. It will still be some time before this technology and method go under clinical trials, but it's certainly a very promising use of 3D printing.
