Horizontal supports, skipping the wire mesh?

How practical/possible would it be to project a loose grid at the beginning of a print that extends beyond the bounds of the container, to act as a support for the print rather than relying on the metal mesh at the bottom of the container as an anchor? I've noticed on some of the prelimenary prints that parts of the print don't stick to the grid, and it can mess up the print in a column above the non-adhered spot.

How hard is it to scrape the resin off the side wall if it sticks, and does it even adhere to a vertical surface like that? Would it be useful to anchor overhangs to the walls of the container rather than to the next lowest horixontal surface?

Very practical, very good ideas, much of this is planed,

Resin breaks of the side wall of a smooth container very easily, i think adding mesh to the side walls and then printing grids that attach to the sidewall mesh could be very helpfull for really large objects.
You could print another thin grid every 3cm, making a 3d matrix of nets that keep prints from moving.

I plan to implement most of this when I attempt to print a full size canoe.
