When the Delage Type-S car finished third in the Grand Prix in 1914, its owners were ecstatic, but the future life of that car would have been hard for them to predict. With its companion vehicles melted down for their metal for use in the first World War, the Delage ended up far away in Australia where it lived the life a star race car deserves. Eventually it came into the possession of Stuart Murdoch. Unfortunately, 103 years after it was built it appeared to be broken beyond compare by a crack in the engine block. Luckily, a mechanic and industrial engineer were able to use advanced manufacturing technology to scan the piece needed and create the mold using 3D printing.
