The University of Nottingham is joining several other organizations for a new project called Functional Lattices for Automotive Components (FLAC). FLAC is aiming to leverage new additive manufacturing processes reduce the mass of new vehicle components by 40 to 80 percent, resulting in more lightweight, fuel-efficient vehicles.
