German researchers are currently creating 3D printed insoles for diabetes patients. While this is a product we’ve seen more often lately, emerging from the 3D printing industry, more specialized products can be created for those with nerve damage in their feet. Better comfort in the shoes will lead to a much better experience for those wearing shoes, walking, and standing for longer periods. Thanks to the collaboration between the Fraunhofer Institutes for Mechanics of Materials IWM and Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT, Covestro and Lehamn&Voss&Co, 3D printed insoles for diabetes patients will be much more affordable and accessible.
