On May 21, a group of students from the University of California, San Diego made history by successfully launching and retrieving a liquid rocket propelled by a 3D printed engine - the first student group ever to do so. The UCSD chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) spent two years working on the Vulcan-1 rocket and its 3D printed engine, and the time and effort were worth it as it shot approximately 4,000 feet into the air from the Mojave Desert.
