It's been a big day for new materials in 3D printing! While 3D printing has begun to show itself in the dental industry, it's mostly been used for dental models and temporary veneers. Permanent repairs and implants are still manufactured using traditional methods, but Vertex Dental, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of dental prosthetics and implants, has developed the first CE Class IIa - certified materials approved for the 3D printing of long-term dental applications like crowns, splints and denture bases. Meanwhile, EnvisionTEC, a company known for its dental 3D printers and printing materials, has also developed a new material, though not for dentistry.
