While ancient Babylon may currently be in ruins and with little support financially, the government of Iraq is working diligently to preserve its cultural heritage for posterity and to protect and archive what remains for the future. In an inspiring project with citizens from two countries working together, representatives from China’s Shining 3D traveled all the way to visit with Iraqi government officials, donating both their EinScan 3D scanner and Einstart 3D printer. Presenting the 3D hardware in person, Xinyu Zhang and Hong Liang of Shining 3D also trained everyone in using the machines and worked with them on examples for preserving relics that have sustained damage but can be brought back to their more original shape after scanning.
