Anders Olsson, a research engineer at Sweden's Uppsala University, wanted to try 3D printing boron carbide. He made his own filament from boron carbide combined with plastic, and his project was a success, but it destroyed the nozzle on his Ultimaker 2 printer. So for his next experiment, he designed a heating block that would allow for nozzles to be changed in seconds. The heating block, now known as the Olsson Block, was picked up by Ultimaker, who is giving them away for free with purchase of Ultimaker 2 and Ultimaker 2 Extended printers for the whole month of November.
