In a new turn for 3D printing in the medical industry, researchers at Northeastern University have just released their findings and projections for the future regarding an innovative new technology they’ve created, called 3D magnetic printing. With this technology, they’ve begun by using magnetic fields to properly align fibers for 3D printing parts that can be used as neonatal catheters. Tubes that are used in feeding premature babies, they help provide nutrients, medications, and fluids that otherwise they could not survive without. These 3D printed catheters are obviously just the tip of the iceberg with 3D magnetic printing, however, as it offers itself to so many other applications requiring complex and miniature architectures.
