Knitting isn't something exclusively done by old ladies in an effort to keep the world in socks and sweaters. In fact, it is one of the primary methods by which textiles are produced and if you own any clothes with 'stretch' they are most likely produced on a commercial knitting machine. Knitting works by building up a garment line by line, similar to the process of 3D printing.
