Ekaggart Singh Kalsi is an architect by day, and a clock maker some of the rest of the time. He posted a "Doodle Clock" to Hackaday three years ago, but wanted to perfect it into a working -- and mesmerizing -- desktop clock. He incorporated the idea of magnetic writing (inspired by a Fisher Price children's toy) which eliminated the marker he originally used to tell time on his clock. He also created a quieter and smoother functioning clock, but it still has a few kinks to work out it seems: including motor backlash. All clock parts except electronics are 3D printed, and there's instructions posted on Hackaday with files posted on Thingiverse. 59 people have already downloaded the files, so it looks like make more people will be working on this amazing "Doodle Clock."
