Researchers at MIT and Boston Children's Hospital are working on a study this fall where seven surgeons will use data and 3D models from that of MRIs belong to ten different patients. The scientists have created a new system for creating much clearer data, in turn creating very accurate 3D models that can be used in delicate heart surgeries. They are still waiting on the outcome of the study to see if indeed the 3D printed models do offer improvement over traditional practices.
