Toyota recently embarked on a project to redesign the car seat. To create the model for their design, they needed to work with an incredibly complex geometry at a large scale. This created a file that was so large as to become unmanageable. Together with the team at Materialise, the project was brought back under control again through the use of slice based operations which delays the complete calculation of the geometries until at the slicing phase of modeling. They were able to design a seat with a much great heat capacity and with a 72% reduction in volume. Check out more at 3DPrint.com: http://3dprint.com/96066/materialise-toyota-car-seat/
