China's Army Now Using 3D Printers in the Field

China's People's Liberation Army has showed off their use of 3D printing in a big way via a military drill. The PLA performed a drill in which one of 6 refueling trucks in a convoy catches fire. The Unit does not have the coupling part required to fix the damage caused by the fire, so instead they pull out a 3D printer and print that part. The drill was a success and will likely act as a headway to further tests before being implemented in live military action. Yea, the irony of the PLA printing with PLA was not lost on me either

And the fact they still have the word LIBERATION in their army name in a country thats one of the most oppressive on the planet is another ironic fact that I hadn't overlooked either.
