3D Print a Device That Turns Your Smartphone Into a Hologram!

Gianluca Pugliese is an enthusiastic 3D printing designer from Italy who has decided after several years of working not just to start documenting his work better, but to also engage in highlighting them in 3D with his 3D printed holograph viewer, fabricated in ABS. The 3D printed piece was inspired by a project Pugliese saw on Instructables. The 3D printed shape can sit on top of a smartphone to show images on the screen rising up in ethereal forms as holograms. Check it out here: http://3dprint.com/86444/holograph-viewer-3d-printed/

It might be "ethereal" but it's not a hologram. There are lots of ways to produce 3D illusions; holography is just one of them. But while every hologram produces a 3D illusion, every 3D illusion is not a hologram.

I am really looking forward to this! I am anticipating the day where 3d printing devices will be able to create a hologram or sort of astral projection. So when you're calling somebody a hologram or screen of the person would appear, making it look like you're talking each other physically.
