In a somewhat odd move, especially for a direct competitor with Oculus, Microsoft Research has released, for free, the CAD files so that users can 3D print out their own Lens housings that Microsoft claims will make images on the VR headset sharper. While Microsoft themselves is expected to release their own VR headset, the Hololens, they seem to also want to improve the Oculus Rift headset as well. The lens housings can be printed on high quality machines, and possibly even lower quality FDM machines, although Microsoft recommends against that. More details and where you can download the files to 3D print these housing yourself can be found here: http://3dprint.com/77174/microsoft-3...t-oculus-rift/
