Selective laser sintering (SLS) 3D printers have long been the domain of large entities with budgets that can accommodate the expensive, high-tech equipment...but as time rolls on, technology always sees innovations that lead to lower prices. At the Bay Area Maker Faire, to be held May 16 and 17 in San Mateo, CA, Patrick Lie will exhibit his company's affordable, consumer-level SLS 3D printer. Lie, the CEO of Polyforge, Inc., will be on hand to show the consumer-level machine, also called the Polyforge, which will feature a build volume of 195 x 195 x 195 mm and a 20 Watt CO2 laser.
