A group of researchers have submitted a project to NASA’s Print Your Own Space Food challenge proposing 3D printable hydroponic pods that will grow food during long-term space missions. The AstroGro is printable with existing Made In Space 3D printers, and has an automated monitoring system in place that can keep space crops healthy in a low-gravity or no-gravity scenario.
