Ryan Somma's wife, Vicky, told him from experience that he'd "catch the bug" -- and he did. 3D designing and printing an object that can't be found somewhere else is a huge source of inspiration for those entering the 3D printing space for the first time. Vicky, who was one of the winners in the White House 3D Printed Christmas Ornament Challenge, encouraged her husband in pursuing his interest once he caught sight of a dice tower and decided he wanted a Pachinko machine version, and suggested he use OpenJSCAD. Ryan's tower, featuring three chutes at the top, can roll dice of any shape at random, shooting them out at the bottom. The design isn't perfect quiet yet, but it is impressive -- and available for free download at GitHub.
