This weekend, spring football starts up for some collegiate teams, with North Carolina State University playing Florida State University playing today (aired on ESPN3). To celebrate the great work of NCSU's Chancellor, Randy Woodson, engineers at the school's Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering have created a 3D printed full-size football with the NCSU Woofpack logo on it. Made on the school's Arcam EBM machine with titanium powder, the football isn't game-ready, but it will look great on Chancellor Woodson's shelf. Professor Tim Horn led the 3D printing project, with the actual print taking about 24 hours on the electron beam melting machine.
