Australian architects Kae Woei Lim and Elena Low, of XYZ Workshop, won the top prize for a fashion competition requiring entrants to use 3D printing in fashion to symbolize sustainability. Using water as a clean energy source in terms of sustainability for their inspiration, they worked to symbolize electrolysis of water in the 3D printed top which alternated solid and transparent pieces representing hydrogen and water. The piece was 3D printed in 26 pieces and took 170 hours to print, demonstrating that it may have taken some extra time and effort, but that an amazing piece of artwork and fashion could be created without a larger 3D printer.
