Solidscape, a Stratasys company, has announced a partnership with LSR's Design Studio that has introduced a disruptive approach to rapid prototyping. Their method can cut the time to market by up to three times, with prototypes created in less than two weeks -- down from the 5-6 weeks typical of the process. Based on Solidscape's lost wax casting process, the rapid prototyping cuts the need for hand finishing, reducing both time and money involved in this now superfluous step. As proof of concept, they have successfully created the MEMI wearable device that syncs to a smartphone via Bluetooth, made using Solidscape's wax molds.
