Haha I actually have the rest of my office as a workshop with a full sized workbench, computer work area, and the closet with a 6ft table and storage for parts and electronics, etc. Mostly not tidy...
Anyone have any more info or comments on this?

Yea I understand some may need that extra space on the print bed... me, I never had it to begin with so it's not that big of a deal. I find that with a 5-6mm glass bed, and longer extruder tubes, the...
2. Non-critical (but important) Mods/Upgrades
-Software/Firmware upgrade(s)
The first thing I did to my CTC's software is upgrade its stock factory firmware with a much better alternative...
I'm really happy there is such a following for the CTC brand line of 3D printers; and these style of cartesian printers in general (FlashForge, et al). I think they are great little machines and...
Congrats! We look forward to hearing more about your experience with the QiDi! ;)
Hi all, I've been testing out various new filaments (exotic and others), and came across some PLA/PHA Mixed filament from MeltInk over on Amazon.com; I had a bad experience with the first roll of...
I would definitely look into an SLA format printer (versus FFF which most consumer 3D printers use). SLA uses light to "cure" liquid into the 3d model you specify... and it has extremely high...
About the z shim, look up on thingiverse there's a version that slides into the backboard and is very solidly in place (I even had to shave some plastic off of mine). The version I downloaded was...
I would definitely spring for the qidi over ffcp. For all intents and purposes the qidi is a solid clone of the ffcp style printer but at a much better price. Then you can do what others suggest and...
I have the original version of this set: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1291106 but I'm going to get these made for me using higher grade filament for heat resistance via 3dhubs.com
First let's start with your budget?
$200 to $500?
$600 to $900?
$1000+?
Depending on your budget, we can recommend different printers based on your needs.
I have a CTC and it shakes like crazy for the infill as well; although utilizing Simplify3D and Sailfish 7.7 firmware has helped with the print speeds / accel and helps the shaking by a huge margin....
I'd get a replacement aluminum bed, but honestly you don't need to replace it even with the scratches if you go with a 1/8" borosilicate glass bed.
Welcome aboard the CTC train :) Honestly it's a great printer for the price...
But if I had to go a second time around, I would definitely be buying myself a QiDi Printer instead. I love my CTC...
Between having a CTC and QiDi and working on the Kossel, which do you use more / prints better? Are you more excited to use the Kossel than the other two?

This is what you want for your extruder throats.
So, after much pleading and begging (promises of buying Ikea furniture were made), my gf finally let me wall mount my homemade filament loader container (seeking better naming).
Below I have my...
You need to reduce the travel speeds in your slicer software. Honestly, I recommend getting Simplify3D for slicing.
Remove the blue tape.
Theoretically, you could probably create the face of the mold in Illustrator or Photoshop, then import into a cad program to "3d-ify" it. Otherwise, most CAD software should get you where you want to...
So I'm on the fence about buying a second printer; I already have a CTC 3D Printer fully modded and printing great (albeit slowly); after some research I've narrowed down my selection to either a...
I would imagine a larger container with one side having warm, dry air (not above 60c as mentioned) pumped through, while on the other end a vacuum of sorts suck out the air. You could have underneath...
I'm seriously considering the QiDi. If I had known of them before I got my CTC, I would definitely have gone for the QiDi instead.
