How to optimize color texture in 3D model scanned with Artec Eva

I use Artec Eva for body scanning. Now I look for a software to optimize the texture in the 3D color model. Similar to the function of cloning the texture in pictures with Photoshop software.

Files from Artec Eva scanner software:
3D Model as vrml 2.0 (.wrl)
Texture as jpeg picture 2048 x 2ß48 (.jpg)

    Which software do you recommend?

    Cheers
    Micha

    Hi Micha,

You can use for example Autodesk Mudbox. It is rather simple and comfortable for correcting texture.

How about Zbrush? Is it similar to Mudbox?
    Or any other software?

    Hello,

You can also use ZBrush. It is more sculpturing software, but it can also be used for correcting texture.

    Hi,
I just downloaded mudbox 30 days trial.
Which file format I should export from Artec Studio Software to be able to open it in mudbox and improve the texture?
How to export the final result from mudbox to be able to print it out with z-printer (or projet 660)?
    Thanks for your hint
    regards
    Micha

    Hi,

You can use .obj + .png for exporting from Artec Studio and importing in Mudbox.
After correcting texture you can just save changed in Mudbox in the same .obj + .png files and print them.

    Hi,

    I just exported from Artec:
    ply+jpg,
    obj+jpg and
    obj+bmp.

Any of these combination work as well?

    Hi,
I opened in Mudbox the .obj
In the same folder I have the corresponding .jpg
Mudbox shows the 3D model only - no texture.
I also tried "file import..." instead of "file open..."
    same result.
Please excuse me for these basic questions. Looking forward to receive further assistance.
    Thanks!
    Best regards
    Micha

    Dear Micha,

You should import texture in Mudbox separately, not via import option.
There is another option to add a new layer - Paint section - Import layer - select png\jpeg file with texture.
Please pay attention, that we can give you only some basic hints about Mudbox or other not Artec products, please ask for Mudbox or your printer support for further questions about texturing and printing.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
thanks a lot. These hints guided me to the right direction. I was able to run an import>improvement>export.
Now I know how to get deeper into that story.
    Best regards
    Micha
