Among all the options around for 3D printing filaments, one notable material choice has been increasing in use: thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Thomas Palm is one man who has been especially invested in creating a viable TPU printing system. Palm, offering his filament through Rubber3dprinting.com, invented a consumer-level filament extruder that should appear early next year on Kickstarter or Indiegogo. He was also able to add carbon into his mixture, creating conductive TPU. He's used his material and extruder in several successful prints already, and plans to keep it coming. His products have particular promise in applications for prostheses and robotics.
