    3D Systems to Acquire Cimatron

    3d Systems has continued their spree of acquisitions today with quite a major announcement. The company will be acquiring Cimatron Ltd. (CIMT) for $8.97 per share, a premium of over 47% from Friday's close. The acquisition will give 3D Systems a major software asset in the additive and subtractive manufacturing space. Cimatron is known for their CimatronE and GibbsCAM software, used within a large number of manufacturing areas. More details on this acquisition can be found here:

    3D Systems have moved aggressively to acquire a wide range of complimentary businesses in the last year, and CEO Avi Reichental says the moves are all aimed at consolidating 3DS' position as leaders in additive manufacturing and 3D printing. The purchase of Cimatron for $97 million is yet another example of how 3DS plans to expand their global reach and technical capability through the purchase of companies making waves in the additive manufacturing sphere.
