    Mesh repair and texture software

I'm making models that will be printed on full color 3d printers. But I find that the software that came with it to edit is lacking on some points.
What kind of software can I use to check the polygons in the models the designers/architects give me? It also needs to be able to edit the texture on the model and to add/remove basic things.

There are many programs, like Zbrush has a function to check mesh integrity, but if you want a good reliable free service, use the Microsoft/Netfabb one, you just need to have a hotmail or live account to log in to use it, but its great it keeps a history of your files you have fixed which is handy and for me always seems ot do a pretty good job at fixing any errors.

Meshmixer and Nettfabb are the cheapest solutions for polygon repair, but there are others, like Geomagic Wrap, if you need more features like being able to translate into NURBS surfaces or STEP files. You might look at Cubify Sculpt for painting the models; it's pretty inexpensive.
