    3D Printed AirPlane

This is a pretty amazing airplane which has been 3D Printed, and actually can take flight. It's not a passenger plane, instead a very large toy. The plane was created by a team at the University of Virginia's Engineering school, and has a wing span of six and a half feet. Still very impressive I would say:

Very interesting and good looking plane. I wonder how it compares in weight and strength with a Balsa & Plywood model?

Only from my experience printing large quadcotpers (500mm prop to prop) if using ABS, its very forgiving in crashes, PLA not so much. The advantage is tho when building these things, PLA does not warp as much, its very rigid, so with large ABS parts after cooling down they can warp out of shape, especially long quad arms - looks like they had some serious printers to print that all in though, and several of them

Geoff, we would love to see some of your Quad Pics? My son and I fly some F450s here in the States. I printed a frame I got off Thingiverse but only the body and motor mounts are ABS. The arms are aluminum.

Yeah I print alot of them out, I have about 5 KK.20 boards (i saw them in stock and went nuts...) so I print the cases to protect them all, they dont take long to print, probably 45mins for the whole case.
