Artist Dennis Harroun recently walked visitors through his process for the creation of a piece entitled “Off the Wall” on his blog. He began with marker and pencil sketches on paper and then quickly moved to 3D modeling on the computer. After working out all of the details, he turned to Offload Studio to help him bring the grotesque series into the third dimension. Finally, he mounted the piece on a polished and stained backboard and finished it with a brass signature printed by Shapeways. This piece exemplifies the ways in which analog and digital techniques complement each other to create a wonderful work of art.
