Looks like General Electric has founded a new holiday

December 3rd has been declared '3D Printing Day'!

In honor of this new Holiday, GE is putting together a pretty neat little contest. Just for tweeting, you can get your item printed and shipped before christmas.



Here are some of the rules:

1. Sweepstakes Timing: The GE 3D Printing Day Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”) begins at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on December 2, 2013 and ends at 10:00 a.m. on December 6, 2013 or when 200 winners have been confirmed, whichever occurs first (the “Sweepstakes Period”).
2. Eligibility: The Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 48 continental United States and D.C., who are 18 years of age or older as of date of entry. Employees (and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household) of General Electric (“Sponsor”), VaynerMedia, LLC (“Administrator”) and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates and advertising and promotion agencies (collectively with Sponsor and Administrator, the “Sweepstakes Entities”) are not eligible to participate or win. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited by law.
3. How to Enter the Sweepstakes: Follow @generalelectric or any of the ten participating influencers (as listed below) on Twitter and tweet a message @generalelectric or any of the ten influencers including the name of your favorite 3D-printed design (as displayed on the Tumblr) and the hashtag #3DPrintMyGift to earn one entry into the Sweepstakes. The ten participating influencers are @stacylondon, @cooperhewitt, @GEResearch, @CraigBreslow, @Spotify, @moot, @davidoreilly, @benkaufman, @alroker and @bagsnob. The limit on the entire entry submission is 140 characters, including the Sweepstakes hashtag. A mutual following with whichever account you compose a tweet to is required to facilitate active participation and winner notification. If you are a first time visitor to Twitter, you will be prompted to complete the on-screen registration form which is a one-time requirement. By including the hashtag #3DPrintMyGift in an entry, entrant is agreeing to these Official Rules. Normal Internet access and usage charges imposed by your online service will apply and are your sole responsibility. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, corrupted, incomplete or damaged entries. Proof of submission is not proof of receipt by Sponsor. Automated, script, macro or robotic entries will be disqualified. Sponsor has the sole discretion to determine whether an entry is eligible. Any entry not in compliance with these Official Rules will be disqualified. Sweepstakes is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Twitter. By entering, you understand that you are providing your information to Sponsor and not to Twitter. If you make or receive tweets on your mobile phone, standard rates will apply. In order to participate in the Sweepstakes without receiving “tweets” on your mobile phone, be sure to deactivate your mobile phone from your twitter account. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the entrant will be deemed the authorized Twitter account holder used to enter this Sweepstakes.
4. Entry Requirements: Entries, or portions thereof, must not contain obscene, profane, lewd, defamatory or inappropriate content, or be disparaging to Sponsor, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Entries must be in keeping with Sponsor’s image and may not be offensive, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, nor can it defame or invade publicity rights or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or proprietary rights. Entries should not contain any third party materials, or otherwise violate or infringe (or possibly infringe) any copyright, trademark, logo, mark that identifies a brand (other than General Electric). Entrants and winners acknowledge and agree that their entries become the property of the Sponsor, which thereby has the right to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, promote and otherwise use entries in any way it sees fit. Any entry not in compliance with the above and which does not meet the requirements of these Official Rules will be disqualified.
5. Winner Determination: The first 200 eligible entrants (as determined solely by Sponsor) will be notified by direct message on Twitter and will be required to respond with his/her name and address within one hour of notification. Each potential winner will subsequently be sent his/her prize within 2-4 weeks. Any potential winners who do not respond by the deadline indicated within the direct message or if the prize is returned as undeliverable, winner will be disqualified and the next eligible entrant will be contacted. This process will continue until 200 winners have been confirmed. Odds of winning are dependent on the number of eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period and the total number of entrants who respond in a timely manner.
6. Prizes: Grand Prizes (200): A Sponsor-selected 3-D Printed gift. There is no retail value associated with this prize.
7. General Rules: Winners and all entrants, as a condition of entry into the Sweepstakes, agree to release Sweepstakes Entities and Twitter from and against any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons or property which may be sustained in connection with submitting an entry or otherwise participating in any aspect of the Sweepstakes, the receipt, ownership or use of prize awarded or any typographical or other error in these Official Rules or the announcement of offering of the prizes. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission to the Sweepstakes Entities to use winners’ names, likenesses, statements and entries for promotional purposes (including any possible public relations opportunities) without further compensation except where prohibited by law. The Sweepstakes Entities are not responsible for technical, hardware, software or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled or delayed electronic communications caused by the user or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in the Sweepstakes or for any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participation in, accessing or downloading information in connection with the Sweepstakes. The Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes; violates the Official Rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify this Sweepstakes for any reason, including (but not limited to) if, for any reason, the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, Sweepstakes, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Sweepstakes. If such cancelation occurs, Sponsor reserves the right to determine the winners from among all eligible entries received prior to cancellation.

The first ever 3D Printing day will take place on December 3rd of this year. Get it? D3 for 3D? Anyway, the event is being hosted by General Electric who has teamed with other big names within the 3D Printing Industry, such as Makerbot, Autodesk, and 3D Systems.
