Makerbot Replicator Smart Extruder not Attached Error #1014

When we first got it setup and put together, we turned it on and it said the Smart Extruder was not connected. We disconnected and reconnected it, turned the machine off and on, reset to factory settings, nothing helped. Eventually after an hour it just started working without anyone touching it. It did a test print just fine. We turned it off and tried to do another print a few days later and the problem came back. So far it still won't work.

Call support and have them send you a replacement. Be sure to stay on top of them as the support center and shipping are in two different locations and they don't communicate all that well.

From extensive conversations with support, the Smart Extruder is still a work in progress.
