    3D Printing File Formats

In the manual for the Projet 1200, it says it can import .stl, .obj, .ply, and .cti file formats.

What is a .cti file and how is it used in regards to 3D printing?

I've had a look at descriptions of file extensions and all I've found is that a .cti file is associated with databases for collections of books, photos, music etc in software from Collectorz.com.

I cannot see how it is related to 3D printing.

Interesting. When you import a file into the Geomagic Print software that came with the printer, it lists the file format as .ctl; where the manual says .cti. Can't find any info relating CTL files to 3D printers either. My curiosity is now piqued.

If I had purchased a $5000 printer and could not make head nor tail of the operator's manual, I'd be right onto the manufacturer's Help Desk to get the info I needed.

I had a look at various combinations of *.ct? file extensions, and I could not find anything related to 3D printing either. Maybe it is an in-house extension for some other software that 3DSystems has?

That file extension does not come up on the 3DSystems website, either.

    OME
