Extruder collides with/ ruins print

Hello, I have a Flashforge Creator Pro and the parts I am printing have been fine up until today. I am observing the printing of the first few layers fine but then it gets to a point where it seems that the hot end is colliding with the filament, melting it back down and moving it out of the way, ruining the print. I have tried leveling the base, cleaning the extruder, and replacing the base, and nothing has worked so far.

I feel like the base is not moving as the extruder works and that is causing the issue but I'm not sure. I am still mostly a beginner with 3D printing and would appreciate any and all guidance and resources.
