As if building a 3D printer out of K'Nex wasn't unique enough, The developer of the Mec'Nex 3D Printer has taken things yet a step farther. The 17 year-old Connor Coleman has designed a 3D printer that is a combination between FDM and SLA. It lays down a layer of resin in the same way that filament is extruded onto a print bed. The resin will then be cured by UV lights that surround the build platform. The printer has not been completed yet but Coleman is working on it. He wants it to be less than $100 to build.
