    Hellmann's Mayonnaise Printer

3D printing has been being used as a marketing tactic for some time now, as it certainly attracts interest of the media, and the internet in general. Hellmann's realized this and has come up with their own 3D mayonnaise printer. The printer has printed selfies of people on their hamburgers in the UK. Pretty clever marketing tactic I would say. Not really much of a practical use for this, but certainly entertaining to watch. More details, along with a video can be found here: http://3dprint.com/10525/hellmanns-3d-mayonnaise-print/

Check out one of the prints on the burger below:

    3D? Really?
3D Printing is being mis-used as a marketing tactic in this instance.

    Instead of this thread.

Today has a mayo 2D drawing machine and a story about musicians that sing about 3D printing. I wish 3D printing news sites didn't get suckered so easily into posting terrible marketing stunts.

"Through Our Partnership with 3DPrint.com we will begin opening discussion threads for all of the Articles, News, Interviews and Editorials published within their site."
    Says the main page..

That's not to say I think it was a great idea or article (because I always eat my hamburgers open just so I can see the condiment designs? o.0 ..... ) I think the featured stories are sometimes pretty ludicrous, but that's what hype generates. Unfortunately the downside to the excess is people switch off and just stop paying attention to the thread and eventually the site.
