    New guy is intrigued:

HI All, I'm intrigued by the possible uses of 3D printing as the world of technology speeds ahead. I have almost zero experience and knowledge about the subject other than I can visualize potential uses for this kind of tech. Where would you suggest I start eg. online classes, learning software etc? Thank you in advance.

New (to the forum) guy here as well. I came across an ad from the Institute of 3D Printing (google free 30 days) and have been really enlightened by the information and their presentation. Might be a good starting point for you.

Angus has a whole bunch of videos covering pretty much all aspects of 3d printing.
    From design to machine reviews.

Software wise - find a cad package that works for you.
I use openscad - as I'm useless at drawing, but very good atvisualising what I want and how to construct it.

Tinkercad is worth a look and fusion360 is a higher end package - but still free :-)

Familiarlise yourself with slicers and what they can do.
    prusa slicer is pretty good.
    repetier also good.

Work out what you're most likely to make and look for printers that do that best.
ie: small detailed itens - maybe go for a resin machine.

small to mid sized practical items - probably fdm.

Really big stuff - maybe not 3d printing at all :-)
