Newbie Help Needed with Monoprice Select Mini IIIP

I have a Monoprice Select Mini 3D printer 115365, and I just got new PLA filament. When I go to print, as the extruder is moving to the starting position, the filament starts to come out. This causes the print to not work. The filament just becomes a big mess. How do I prevent the filament from coming out before the printer is ready? I tried lowering the temperature of the extruder and the plate, but nothing is working. Could it be bad filament?

just pick the filament from the nozzle before it starts to print.
If you have delicate skin, use tweezers, I just use my fingers.

That is the printer priming the nozzle. There is lines in the starting G-code that you can edit if you know how to access them in your slicer.

You will always get a little drip but if it’s a lot I bet that’s the cause. Unless you start prints remotely it is best just to clear it with long tweezers or your finger as curiousArdvark said. it helps the print start.
