    ANSI Z87.1 Safety?

    Hello,

I am designing a helmet that I want to use for Airsoft games but before I go out and spend a lot of money I wanted to hear from you guys.

The helmet is similar to the ones seen in the latest Star Trek movie that Kirk and Khan wore while flying between ships. This means it has a large, curved, clear faceplate.

I don't want to lose an eye so my question is: do you think a clear part can be made that large that conforms to the ANSI Z87.1 safety standards? How thick would it need to be? (remember, I need to be able to see out of this thing)

Maybe source the clear part from an existing helmet, order that part or source the clear plastic sheet and form it. I wouldn't trust the 3d printed part to save your eyeballs.
