From what I see, the only thing keeping SLA 3D printers from being just as cheap, if not cheaper than FDM 3D printers is the fact that a projector will cost at least $300. Does anyone know or think there will be a solution to make the light projection factor in an SLA printer more affordable anytime soon? I know there are laser SLA printers as well. How expensive are lasers usually

I would think that someone would be able to come up with some sort of open source light projection system that doesn't need to cost as much as a DLP projector. the projectors being used on 3D printers are not made for 3D printers. They are made for other things. This means that we shoudl be able to create a 3D printer only projector for a fraction of the cost.... At least that's what I would think.
