    Any tips for making my own RepRap using random parts?

    Hi guys, I noticed many schemes how to make your own RepRap 3D printer using random parts but I'm curious if you've tried to built your own printer by including many different parts. I have noname built plate and Makerbot smart extruder without any other mechanical stuff so I need all the other parts - where would you look for those?

    eBay has everything you could want to build a printer. There are full kits. There are just the plastic pieces. There are plastic pieces with all the metal rods. There are electronics. Etc. Etc.

    A 3D printer is basically just a 3-axis CNC machine with an extruder on it instead of a router. Do a Google search on DIY CNC Machine and you'll find lots of ideas. The main difference is that most CNC machines don't have a lot of travel in the vertical axis.
