    Is MakerBot fading away?

Is it me or does it seem like the Generation 5 Replicators just don't cut it? I hear so many bad things about them, and now we are seeing so many new 3D printers coming out that are capable of better print quality at more affordable prices. For example the Titan 1 SLA printer. It's about the same as the Replicator as far as price but the quality is so much better due to SLA technology. They need to make a big splash in my opinion if they want to survive, and not merely fade away.

Makerbot is here to stay. With this said though, I could see them inching their way into new forms of technology. Specifically DLP / Laser printing via SLA. SLA printers will be the ones that retail in the $1000+ range, while FFF printers like the replicators will no longer be able to be sold for such high prices. With the mod-t and the M3D printers coming for under $300, Makerbot can't expect to get thousands of dollars for theirs.
