Calling it a “crowdsourced art initiative,” author and artist Douglas Coupland will visit six cities across Canada to 3D scan people at various Simons locations. The participants will receive a 3D printed bust of themselves, and the project will come to its conclusion when Coupland aggregates hundreds of the 3D printed busts as an enormous sculpture. The unveiling is set for an as yet incomplete Simons store located in Yorkdale in 2019. The project is being sponsored by the family-held Simons company, an upscale Canadian fashion retail chain.
