The US Army has been using 3D printing long before it hit the mainstream. Their reliance on the technology seems to be increasing though, evidenced by a three-part plan they created, focusing on using 3D printing to make or replace existing parts, eliminate multi-assembly, and create entirely new parts also. Right now, they have a new system for ‘containerized’ 3D printing that will be tested in the multi-national Pacific Pathways exercise.
