Broken Bells is Giving Away 3D Printed Disigns from their Music Video

We've seen this before. Different bands have been starting to take to 3D printing. There have been music videos made in the past using 3D printing technology. Now popular band, Broken Bells is giving out 3D printable designs from their latest music video.

They are giving away 2 different models, including the 'Intergalactic Girl" as well as the "orb".

I don't get it. What's so special about these? This is no different then a band giving away figures that are traditionally manufactured. I guess they wanted to save some money, and do the trendy thing. Kind of pointless in my mind though.
