It has been my experience that printing open frame boxes and cases in ABS has to be the worst. I battled and battled trying to get a thin-walled 100mm x 100mm x 30mm case printed in ABS since I wanted to subject the parts to an acetone vapor bath. I eventually grew weary of the science fair experimentation I was going through with regards to bed adhesion and layer delamination issues and printed the box and lid in PLA.

There are things that can be done in a design that can supposedly help manage the strain from shrinkage. For example, I adapted a GLCD mount from another user on Thingiverse, and in the original design the user said the narrow channels cut into the inside walls were to help facilitate printing in ABS. You can somewhat see the channels in this "thingiview" -
