Technology May Be Edging People Out; Adapting With Completely New Jobs a Good Idea
Technology can edge workers out of a job in a couple different ways. One is the simple switch, where a machine is invented that can perform a task that previously required a human operator. However, a second way in which technology can create a barrier to employment is if the workforce is not sufficiently skilled to operate it when it is a required duty of a position. A new study in Thailand indicates that this problem is real and that a key is in educating a workforce that will be able to adapt to jobs and technologies that don't even exist yet.
