    The Bristle Dress

This was posted by MakerBot on Thingiverse.

Francis Bitonti Studio, a multidisciplinary design studio in New York City, organized a workshop at Pratt that resulted in the creation of their second 3D printed dress. They built a web interface with MakerBot allowing people to configure the skirt from a super structured mini to an expanded flare skirt.
"We wanted to make the body solidify into harder geometry, going from atmosphere to ice. We integrated a fur lining in their version to ease in the transition. The skirt can be secured by either gluing a hook and eye strip or industrial zipper down the back seam. We are starting to think a lot about design interfaces and questioning how much the public is willing to design." - Francis Bitonti Studio

I must say, it's quite nice

I like it too, however most of these 3D printed dresses we have been seeing really are not practical to wear out. Sure they are awesome on the runway so that designers can win contests, but in the real world people will think you are nuts if you showed up at a party wearing something like this.... unless you are Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus that is.

There are occasions when you want the whole world to look at you. There are other times when you only want your friends to look at you.
I am designing a 3D fashion outfit, and it may cost several thousand dollars to design and make. When finished, I expect it to get a lot of attention. Even if I don't earn any money, the attention is pleasing to me.
I've done a lot of things in my life that I thought were pretty amazing, but no one else got excited about it. Fashion excites a lot of people. It is art, and direct interactive art. Art created on the skin of a beautiful woman.

"....Lately it occurs to me, WALSTIB!"

Is this Wild Bill the tattoo artist?

Fashion seems to be taking a strong foothold in the 3D printing space.
