It’s amazing how long it can take to rebuild something terrorists were able to destroy so quickly—namely regarding the plundering and destruction of the Mosul Museum in Iraq. Almost immediately archaelogists and staff began to work to rebuild the pieces, including artist Morehshin Allahyari who has been working to compile images of and create 3D reconstructions of all the pieces she can. While it has been an arduous task, she has just released her Material Speculation: ISISproject to Toronto’s Trinity Square Video, an artist-run video production centre. She is still continuing to add works, and is looking for a museum that will be able to properly archive all of her valuable 3D files.
