would like to get some thought on this idea.

I got my DaVinci 1.0 way back in August of 2014 and used it almost non stop till February of 2015 when I go my Flashforge Creator Pro. Since then I don't use the DaVinci as much. I was thinking about modding it and replacing the motherboard with a Mighty Board
http://www.flashforge-usa.com/shop/part … board.html I know I will need to replace the end stops and the hot end. But I should be able to use the stepper motors. I will also replace the heated bed with a better one. I would like to install the Sailfish firmware on it.

Just wandering if this will work or would it be a wast of time?

Marlin is much better for custom machines.

I will look into Marlin. The only reason I was going with Sailfish is it is what I am use to on my Flashforge Creator Pro.
Will the Marlin FW work on the Mighty Board

sounds like a good idea. Why would you move the end stops, or replace the hotend ?

If they have the same board connectors and plug into the right connectors - why wouldn't they work ?

You may be able to get Marlin running on a mightyboard but as you are replacing the motherboard you would do better getting an arduino, it is about 1/4 the cost.

The end stops on the DaVinci 1.0 are optical and I am not sure the would work on the mightyboard. I know that guys that have put ramps boards on it have had to replace them with switches. As for the hotend I want to convert it to a Swiss MK10.

I was going to use the mightyboard because I have it at the house already.

Marlin works with optical senses jsut fine, both my CNC PCB cutter and my laser cutter have optical endstops and RAMPS.

OK I may try that. I know that I had read a post from someone that had replaced the DaVinci 1.0 board with RAMPS had to replace the end stops with switches because the optical ones that are there would not work.
